Boundless Energy Peer Award
agility, balance, dedication
An award for someone who goes out of the way to do their own job and more, such as volunteering for extra committees, mentoring, outreach activities, or going the extra mile to help others.
This award is for that person who most personifies the GSFC values of Agility, Balance, and Dedication. This person has demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to excellence and to individual and team responsibilities. Characteristics to consider for this award are assuming additional responsibilities such as volunteering for committees, mentoring, or going the extra mile to help others; or has a much larger job than others with the same PD; or has exerted that extra personal effort to achieve a major goal.
Mission Impossible Peer Award
creativity, dedication An award to recognize someone who has a really big, demanding, seemingly impossible job, yet they manage to successfully keep all the "balls in the air." This award recognizes people who do more with less and/or develop new and creative ways of approaching their work. It can be for either a major initiative or a series of minor ones culminating in a significant impact. NASA is seeking new, creative ways to implement projects. Jobs are becoming more complex and should not be burdened with outmoded processes.
Steady Helm Peer Award
integrity, respect, teamwork An award for a good team player, who helps keep the team focused in a crisis. This person keeps things moving, performs well under pressure, and reinforces good morale and respect for all team members during times of stress/adversity. This award reinforces the Directorate's objective of fostering a climate of mutual respect as a catalysts for creativity and team effectiveness.
Rookie of the Year Peer Award
agility, dedication An award for an employee who demonstrated agility by getting up to speed quickly in assuming their new responsibilities as they transitioned to their new duties in a new position. This award emphasizes the Directorate's commitment to maintain a vital workforce, and the commitment to ensure that employees seek the training and opportunities to advance their careers.
Unsung Hero Peer Award
dedication, teamwork (and is in the spirit of Goal 2 Strategy 1) An award for any employee who supports the Directorate from a behind the scenes role. This award recognizes an employee dedicated to their job, who supports the Directorate in a behind the scenes role meeting the needs of customers and co-workers with a can-do attitude. No one can do their job without some help from others. This can include someone in a supporting capacity such as secretary, logistics, travel, transportation, public affairs, information technology, human resources, safety, facilities, or business personnel.
Wild Card Peer Award
An award for an FPD team member whose activities best reflect any of the best values of the Center: agility, balance, creativity, dedication, integrity, respect, and teamwork. An award for an FPD team member whose activities best reflect any of the best values of the Center: agility, balance, creativity, dedication, integrity, respect, and teamwork. This award is to provide an avenue of nomination for persons whose activities don't easily fit into the other award descriptions. It is an opportunity to give special attention to unique activities that further the FPD's technical and institutional Strategic Objectives.
Honoring Diversity Peer Award
dedication, integrity, respect, teamwork An award for an individual who contributes to creating an environment where differences are valued and appreciated and who models integrity, respect and fairness in working with others. Characteristics to consider for this award are volunteering for diversity related activities, outreach activities or has demonstrated an exceptional personal commitment to creating an inclusive environment. This award is for an individual who most personifies the GSFC values of dedication, integrity, respect and teamwork. This award recognizes an employee or manager for their initiative, contributions and achievements that advance FPD's goals toward creating an environment where diversity and difference is valued and respected and where each employee can contribute to their maximum potential. This award is for an individual who strives to make a positive difference in the work environment by valuing and respecting differences. This individual demonstrates an outstanding commitment to diversity by developing their own awareness and competency in diversity issues and by fostering a climate wherein diversity is valued and appreciated.
Mentor "Under Your Wing" Award
balance, dedication, integrity, respect An award for an individual who embraces mentoring and actively participates in the development of others. Recipients of this award coach others for improved performance or to enhance career development and assists mentees with professional and career planning. This award is for an individual who most personifies the GSFC values of agility, balance, dedication, integrity and respect. This award recognizes an individual who serves as a mentor and who has demonstrated outstanding commitment and dedication to the development of other individuals. This award is for an individual who seeks to positively influence an individuals' career development goals. Characteristics to consider for this award include: valuing and developing individuals for enhanced responsibility, serving as an advocate for mentee, or actively encouraging and guiding others in developing and achieving career goals.
